Big Big Books®
From 1934 to the end of the Golden Age in 1938, Whitman produced some very large books which were trademarked Big Big Books®. The concept for the books, a large amount of content in large format, was opposite that of BLBs. The sold for 25¢ each.
These huge books followed the layout which placed a black and white illustration opposite each page of text. Even the logo on the cover was similar. The books were 320 pages long, and their outside dimensions were 7 1/4" x 9 1/2" x 1 1/4". The contents were developed around the more popular BLBs characters. Some original artwork and stories were done by familiar BLB artists and authors.
There are 11 collectable titles, not including reprint variations which can be distinguished by different cover illustrations or different printing on their spines.
